Adam sez:

One of two new studio tracks for the Beach Boys-oriented, limited edition live album You May Never Hear Surf Music Again, which we put together (along with another limited edition double disc of '70s covers) as a premium for a fundraising campaign for that year's round of touring. I'd always avoided doing direct Beach Boys homages, but I bent those rules a bit on OWL, and it was fun to just give in and totally record two straight-up pastiches of their sound. Since GO WEST, I've gotten more and more into being spontaneous with the songwriting and using the studio as part of the process, so both tracks went from inception to final mix in about eight hours' studio time -- quick work by any measure. What is fun about this is the tracks come out well and they're still fresh to me by the time they're done. This lush instrumental, obviously a tip of the hat to PET SOUNDS, and also to soundtracks from surf movies like Endless Summer, is one of my favorite recordings. It came out really nice, doubly so given the short production time.

I don't write in 6/8 much...is this the only one? I'm not sure. No one ever listened when I said it in 4/4 time so...might as well.

Kurt Medlin is back behind the drums on record here for the first time since GO WEST (laying down the track during a pee break for a different session!!!)...I played everything else.
